Following a Motorsport Ireland tribunal arising from penalties applied at round nine of the 'The Trailer Company' Fiesta ST Championship, David Maguire has been confirmed as the 2018 champion. The tribunal resulted in the reversal of a four point penalty applied to Maguire, thereby making him the ST champion for the third year in a row. At the end of the final round of the series, at Mondello Park in September, Maguire was declared as the champion. Mondello Park's final round of the 2018 Parts for Cars Irish Rallycross Championship will be graced by the largest Supercar grid for a domestic event for many years, this Sunday November 25th, as nine Class 1 drivers will battle it out for a place on the Superfinal grid. For the season finale the championship regulars will be joined by Welsh visitors Mike and Liam Manning, driving Ford and Subaru machines, as well as being boosted by the appearance of additional local cars. WillIam Kellett promoted to second, Darren Lawlor promoted to third Following a decision by Motorsport Ireland the final positions in the 2018 Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta Zetec Championship have been amended. The decision arises from technical checks carried out on car number 21, driven by Mark Johnston, following the Leinster Motor Club event at Mondello Park on September 15th. Following a technical inspection after rounds 11 and 12 of the championship, the engine of car number 21 was found to contravene regulation 6.5, which governs the maximum compression ratio for engines used in the Fiesta Zetec Championship. Following a long and tense wait for the 2018 nominees, since the final shoot-out on October 24th, Caolán Irwin was announced as the recipient of the 2018 'Young Racer of the Year' title at the Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship awards ceremony at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane, County Kildare on Saturday night, November 10th. The fifth annual Mondello Park Six Hour Fiesta Enduro finishes out the 2018 Car Racing season this Sunday, November 4th on the Kildare venues' National Track. The popular event will be run by the Mondello Park Sports Club in association with the Carlow, Kildare, MEC, IMRC and Leinster Motor Clubs. The entry list reads like a who's who of Irish Motorsport, with drivers from almost every Irish championship taking part. The 2018 Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship ended with a flourish at Mondello Park this weekend, September 29th & 30th, on the Mondello Park National Track. The high quality entertainment included a nail biting conclusion to the Superbike Cup battle, the race of the year in Superbikes and the closest finish of the season in Supersport. Following eighteen rounds over six events, the Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship will reach its climax at Mondello Park on the last weekend of September, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th, with the final three races of the 2018 season. The long seven event championship began in late March and has produced an exciting season, particularly in the Superbike and Superbike Cup classes where every race has been hotly contested. With the 2018 Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta Zetec championship title already wrapped up, by Harmonstown's Owen Purcell, the main battle at the season final at Mondello Park today, Sunday September 16th, was for second and third places. The Final double header for the 2018, 'The Trailer Company' Fiesta ST Championship produced a cliff hanger with the championship going right down to the final lap of the year at Mondello Park today, Sunday September 16th. David Maguire from Ballsbridge, began the weekend trailing fellow Dubliner Michael Cullen by ten points, but with each driver required to drop their two worst scores, Cullen would be able to count two fourth places finishes even if he did not score in either of Sunday's races.
